What is Climate Change?

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in Earth's temperature and weather patterns. These changes can be natural, but the current warming trend is primarily driven by human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas.

Key points about climate change:

Greenhouse gases: Burning fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat, leading to a rise in global temperatures.

Impacts: Climate change is already causing widespread impacts, including rising sea levels, more extreme weather events (like heatwaves, droughts, floods, and storms), changes in ecosystems, and threats to human health and well-being.

Mitigation: Addressing climate change requires reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a transition to clean energy sources (like renewable energy) and adopting sustainable practices.

Adaptation: We must also adapt to the changing climate by building resilience and investing in infrastructure that can withstand extreme weather events.
